For Suzanne and her family, running is a way to honour their Grandma, the heart and soul of their family. Grandma was everyone’s biggest supporter, always cheering them on and giving her time to help at events. She passed away 10 years ago, but her memory lives on in everything they do.
This year, Suzanne, her brother, her husband, and her son are taking on the challenge together. Suzanne and her brother will run the Half Marathon, while her husband and son will tackle the 5k. For her son, this is especially significant, as he underwent surgery on both ankles in April to correct a skeletal condition. Now, he’s determined to complete the race “for GG.”
In 2019, Suzanne, her brother, and sister ran in memory of their Granddad, raising funds for Dementia research. This year, the family is running to support PinkPong, a charity her sister founded to aid Cancer Research.
“Grandma and I used to sit at home watching TV and snacking while my older siblings went running,” Suzanne says. “Now it’s my turn to put the running shoes on. This one is for her.”
It’s a celebration of teamwork, resilience, and the unbreakable bond of family.
