The Acronyms Tamar 10K will return to Plymouth on Sunday 18 October for its fifth and final year, bringing participants together for one last chance to experience one of the region’s most distinctive running events.
Organised by Taurus Events, the event has become known for its unique route across the iconic Tamar Bridge, offering participants the opportunity to cross between Devon and Cornwall as part of the 10K challenge.
The 2026 event will start at Marine Academy Plymouth at approximately 8.30am, with participants making their way to the finish and event village at Kawasaki Precision Machinery. With a fully closed-road course, the event welcomes participants looking to take on a personal challenge, enjoy an active morning or experience the bridge from a different perspective.
The fifth edition marks the final chapter for the Acronyms Tamar 10K, with organisers looking forward to bringing the event to a fitting close alongside the participants, volunteers, sponsors and supporters who have helped make it possible.
Suzi Cumberland, Managing Director of Taurus Events, said: “The Acronyms Tamar 10K has been a special part of the Run Plymouth calendar and reaching this fifth edition is a real milestone for everyone involved. We’re incredibly grateful to Acronyms, our partners, volunteers and, of course, the participants who have supported the event over the years and helped make it what it is today.
“While this will be the final Acronyms Tamar 10K, our commitment to bringing people together through running and creating memorable event experiences remains as strong as ever. We’re looking forward to celebrating this final edition with the running community and continuing to build on the work we do across the South West.”
Acronyms, the event’s headline sponsor, has supported the 10K throughout its journey, helping bring the event to participants from across the region. The continued involvement of sponsors, event partners and volunteers has been an important part of delivering the event each year.
Although this will be the final Acronyms Tamar 10K, organisers hope the occasion will be a celebration of everything the event has brought together over the years, from personal achievements and team challenges to the shared experience of taking on a memorable route.
Participants will receive a finisher’s medal and technical T-shirt, with prizes available across overall and age-category competitions. The event also features a team competition, with a £150 charity donation awarded to the winning team’s chosen charity.
