Challenging weather conditions faced participants of the Acronyms Tamar 10k on Sunday 19th October but despite the rain and wind, more than 850 participants rose to the challenge for one of the region’s most distinctive 10k event. Participants braved the rain with determination and good humour, crossing the iconic Tamar Bridge twice before enjoying a downhill finish into the lively Event Village kindly hosted by Kawasaki.
The weather may have presented an extra challenge, but it only seemed to heighten the atmosphere. Crowds of supporters braved the conditions to show their support, cheering participants through every gust of wind and patch of rain. Their energy, combined with the spirit of the participants, ensured the event retained its trademark community feel and sense of shared achievement.
This year’s new A–B route was praised by participants for its challenging but rewarding route that featured a couple of hills but a fantastic downhill journey to the finish line.
The Events podium winners soared through the finish line as overall first place went to Benjamin Marriott with a time of 35:09, followed by Jack Turner (35:14) and Tom Wraight (35:52). The first female finisher was Hannah Smith (38:59), followed by Ellie Clist (41:50) and Paige Murphy (42:12).
The event drew participants from both Devon and Cornwall as they took on this unique 10k event that crosses the iconic Tamar Bridge.
