There will be thousands of different reasons for taking part in Britain’s Ocean City Running Festival when it returns to the city streets of Plymouth on Sunday, May 11th.
And for a second successive year, event partners Brittany Ferries will be awarding the most inspirational story winner with a return trip for up to four people on one of their services to France or Spain.
In 2024, Lücy Gibbons was the recipient of the prize, with her unwavering determination and inspiring journey in the face of adversity capturing the imagination of the judging panel. Lücy, at the age of just 19, led a team of ten runners in the half marathon, having just a year earlier been treated for cancer. Her team’s fundraising efforts raised over £3,000 for the organisations that helped her.
Chris Jones, Media Manager at Brittany Ferries, said, “We are pleased to continue our support of Devon’s biggest day of running with this special award. The story of Lücy last year was both emotional and uplifting and we at Brittany Ferries look forward to gaining more inspiration from participants this May.”
Organisers Taurus Events are inviting entrants to submit their inspirational reason for taking part by contacting the team on info@taurusevents.co.uk.
With less than two months to go until the 2025 event, which features a half marathon, 10k and 5k, entries are still available at www.runplymouth.co.uk
