For Zac, running isn’t just about crossing the finish line—it’s about honouring his brother Troy and the incredible strength he showed during his battle with cancer. Troy was just 31 years old when he was diagnosed with Stage 4 Glioblastoma, an aggressive brain tumour that changed everything.
Despite undergoing ongoing chemotherapy and multiple surgeries to try to reduce or remove the tumour, the cancer kept growing back. Eventually, surgery was no longer an option due to the risks involved, and chemotherapy stopped working. It was a devastating journey for Troy and his family, but he faced it all with immense courage.
In April this year, Troy sadly lost his battle, surrounded by his family and under the compassionate care of St Luke’s Hospice in Plymouth. Their support during those final weeks made an incredible difference, not just for Troy, but for everyone close to him.
Now, Zac is running to keep Troy’s memory alive. This challenge is his way of celebrating Troy’s resilience and saying thank you for the care his family received during the hardest of times. Every step Zac takes is a tribute to his brother and a reminder of the strength that can come from love and loss.
